1. Filcare Services Limited has had its Financial Advice Provider (FAP) licence cancelled by New Zealand’s Financial Markets Authority (FMA) following the Company’s request and the regulator’s subsequent investigation into its practices. The Auckland-based firm offered financial advice to an estimated 1,800 retail clients, many were part of the Filipino migrant worker community.

To help raise awareness on where your injuries are most likely to occur, 2024 work injury claims by injury type were:
33% of claims were for ears
15% of claims were for shoulder (including clavicle)
27% of claims were for lower back
13% of claims were for finger(s)
13% of claims were for knees
3. Workplace training updates: The eight new industry Skill Boards (ISBs) will begin operating from 1 January 2026 once the legislation is passed later this year. They will also temporarily manage work-based training currently overseen by Te Pūkenga.
Backed by industry consultation, they will cover:
- Automotive, transport, and logistics
- Construction and specialist trades
- Food and fibre (including aquaculture)
- Infrastructure
- Manufacturing and engineering
- Services
- Health and community
- Electrotechnology and information technology
- Industry Skills Boards (ISB) will have three main funding sources. They will receive some core public funding, they can choose to charge fees to fund their quality assurance functions, and industries can also choose to support ISBs through a levy.
4. Note that Transport & Logistics has been added to the Automotive ISB, which was previously drafted by the government as just automotive.
5. Used vehicle imports dropped 14% compared to June 2024, with a total of 7083 arrivals. In contrast, new vehicle registrations were up 27% in June 2024 at 11,851 registrations.
